Darryl King is our May 2023 AKOMA Bouquet recipient. As a member of the teaching staff at Howard S. Billings, Mr. King created the Black Student Union, and he is also the co-founder of the South Shore Youth Organization. His commitment to creating spaces where youth can be seen and heard has had a profound impact on the community he serves. He is recognized for empowering the voices of youth. Mr. King is the spirit of AKOMA
Akoma comes from the Asante of present day Ghana, and symbolizes compassion, understanding, devotion, goodwill and love. Akoma Bouquet is awarded to members in our community working in healthcare, social services or education who embodies the spirit of AKOMA.
